Grade A Cells. Build It Right.

CALB (China Aviation Lithium Battery) is one of the most respected LiFePO4 cell manufacturers in the world — their cells power electric vehicles, grid storage systems, and commercial energy applications globally. These Grade A CALB cells are the foundation of a serious DIY battery build: consistent capacity, low internal resistance, and the cycle life to justify the investment in a custom battery pack.

Features

  • CALB Grade A cells — top-tier cells from a globally recognized manufacturer; consistent capacity and internal resistance across the batch
  • LiFePO4 chemistry — Lithium Iron Phosphate; the safest lithium chemistry with no thermal runaway risk and 2000–5000+ cycle life
  • High capacity per cell — check variant for exact Ah rating per cell; common CALB sizes include 100Ah, 200Ah, and 280Ah
  • Low internal resistance — low IR means efficient energy transfer, less heat generation, and better performance under high current loads
  • Prismatic format — flat prismatic cells are easy to stack and assemble into custom battery packs
  • Long cycle life — 2000–5000+ cycles to 80% capacity at standard discharge rates
  • Wide temperature range — operates across a broad temperature range; check spec sheet for charging temperature limits

Who It’s For

  • DIY battery builders constructing custom 12V, 24V, or 48V battery packs for solar, RV, or marine use
  • EV conversion builders who need high-quality cells for electric vehicle battery packs
  • Off-grid system builders who want to source cells directly and build their own battery bank
  • Engineers and hobbyists who need Grade A cells for energy storage projects

How to Use

  1. Test each cell’s capacity and internal resistance before assembly to verify Grade A specifications.
  2. Top-balance all cells to the same voltage (3.65V) before assembling into a pack.
  3. Assemble cells in series and/or parallel to achieve your target voltage and capacity.
  4. Connect a compatible BMS (Battery Management System) to protect the pack.
  5. Connect to a LiFePO4-compatible charger and solar charge controller.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need a BMS?
Yes — a BMS is required for safe operation of any lithium battery pack. The BMS protects individual cells from overcharge, over-discharge, and imbalance. Never operate a LiFePO4 pack without a properly rated BMS.

How many cells do I need for a 12V 100Ah battery?
A 12V LiFePO4 pack requires 4 cells in series (4S) at 3.2V nominal per cell = 12.8V nominal. For 100Ah capacity, use 100Ah cells. For 200Ah, use 200Ah cells or connect two 100Ah cells in parallel per series group.

Are these new or refurbished cells?
Check the variant details for cell condition. Grade A new cells are the highest quality; Grade B cells may have minor cosmetic issues or slightly lower capacity but are still functional. Avoid ungraded or refurbished cells for critical applications.
